The Business Solutions Group supports process automation, data extraction, and customized solutions across the various business units. Externally, BSG works with clients to deliver innovative data solutions, and customized reporting requirements. The scope of work is entirely project based, so there will always be new challenges and problems for our team to solve. Our tight-knit group fosters collaboration and open communication for each project we take on.

Job Description

A Data Analyst is responsible for observing, documenting and leveraging technology to improve processes across the various business units. A successful candidate will be able to learn about the financial services and hedge fund industry, in addition to the application of technology and programming within the industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work as a member of the Business Solutions Group by engaging in the different operational processes used by our teams, and our internal development initiatives
  • Leverage applicable technologies through the development of scripts and technological innovation
  • Applying new technologies to develop solutions to new problems as they arise, while continually addressing current issues
  • Produce clean and efficient code based on given specifications
  • Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing software
  • Testing the product in controlled, real world situations before taking it live
  • Identifying, rectifying, and streamlining inefficiencies and at-risk processes in current systems by coordinating with internal stakeholders
  • Special projects on an as-needed basis (Special projects have a short turn-around time)
  • Hold concise conversations with senior management

Education:

Degree in Computer Science or equivalent

Experience:

  • Proficient experience in Python
  • Understanding of the Pandas Data Analysis library
  • Ability to appropriately document code and other developments
  • Strong excel skills
  • High attention to detail with an ability to multi-task, and work well in a team environment
  • Must be organized and flexible to work well with frequent priority changes
  • Must be able to self-start and work independently
  • Ability to find new, creative, and unconventional solutions to problems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
